The PADI Assistant Instructor (AI) course is the first segment of the PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) and a key step toward becoming a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI). It prepares you to assist PADI Instructors in teaching and guiding students while expanding your knowledge of PADI systems, standards, and teaching techniques.
40 hours
Have completed an EFR Primary and Secondary Care course (or qualifying training) within the past 24 months.
Be at least 18 years old
Teaching presentations in the classroom, confined water, and open water
Understanding and applying PADI Standards and Procedures
Risk management and diver safety
Conducting programs like Discover Scuba Diving (under supervision) and PADI Scuba Review
Assisting in the Open Water Diver, Advanced, Rescue, and Divemaster courses
